“Look! He is coming with the clouds, and “every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.”…So shall it be!…” – Revelation 1:7 (NLT)
In order to know who the Lord Jesus really is, one must walk with Him and serve Him. How can you honour Him if you don’t know Him? How can you love Him if you don’t know Him? Sometimes, the way people call His Name reveals whether they truly recognise His divine identity and supreme lordship.
After His resurrection and ascension, for example, no one addressed Him as Jesus. They called Him Lord Jesus!
After Saul of Tarsus (Paul) was struck by divine power on the road to Damascus, he said, “Who are You, Lord?” (Acts 9:5). The moment he heard the answer, “I am Jesus…”, his reverence changed because he had a real encounter.
Luke puts it this way in Acts 9:4-5, “He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul! Why are you persecuting Me?” “Who are You, Sir”? Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!”
Child of God, how should you address Him? Surely with reverence. A true encounter with our Lord, Jesus Christ, transforms how you speak to Him or about Him. You will recognise His Majesty. You will honour His lordship.
On the Isle of Patmos, John the Apostle saw Him in glory, and his response was recorded in Revelation 1:17 (NLT): “When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as if I were dead. But He laid His right hand on me and said, ‘Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last.’” John fell because of the magnificent manifestation of divine glory.
Jesus is indeed the First and the Last. Therefore, your worship, your words, and your life should reflect the greatest honour, the deepest awe, and the utmost reverence for Him. He’s Lord of all, and Lord of Heaven and Earth (Acts 10:36).
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your lordship in my life. May my worship, my words, and my life reflect the greatest honour, the deepest love, and the utmost reverence for Your majesty. O Lord, reign forever and ever in my life. Amen.
